Overwhelmed with all of the air purifiers out there? I was too. Over the years, I’ve researched and researched many different air purifiers, always nervous to invest in something I might regret.
As you likely know, air purifiers are incredibly effective at reducing airborne pollutants. They remove dust, mold, pollen, smoke, viruses, bacteria, pet dander, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), “off” odors, and other allergens that can trigger allergies and other respiratory symptoms.
Air pollutants can increase the risk of cancer as well as respiratory and heart disease. Studies suggest cancer risks for pollutants emitted indoors—specifically VOCs—were higher in houses with lower ventilation rates.
Now that we homeschool, the kids and I are at home ALL DAY. I open the windows as often as I can but Idaho weather doesn’t allow for fresh indoor air year-round. For us, it’s all about filtering allergens and VOCs.
My desire for air purifiers in our home was greatly increased the more I read about how effective they can be at naturally managing allergy symptoms. Since using HEPA filtration in our bedrooms and main living spaces, we’ve seen a measurable improvement in allergy symptoms like congestion and itchy eyes.
After researching allll the air purifiers, I finally decided on AirDoctor. Why? They are transparent and regularly provide third party validation for the different types of airborne pollutants and the company believes everyone deserves access to clean air at an affordable price.
AirDoctor uses a three-stage filtration process. There’s a Pre-Filter, Carbon/VOC filter, and UltraHEPA® filter, which captures airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns. That’s 100x smaller than typical HEPA filters found in other air purifiers.
Laboratory testing demonstrated that the AirDoctor 3000 removed 99.99% of bacteria and viruses, including H1N1 (Swine flu), and 99.97% of the live SARS-CoV-2 virus from the air in a test chamber.
Once I made the decision to invest, I waited for a good sale and then went all in! We bought an AirDoctor 1000 for all three bedrooms and an AirDoctor 3000 for our main kitchen and living room space.
Things I love about the AirDoctor after the first few months of use:
Noticeably less dust in our house
Has an Auto mode which automatically adjusts the fan speed according to the contaminants in the air
Extremely quiet on lowest setting
No Wi-Fi connection (very low EMF)
ALL lights can be turned off at night—absolutely no blue light in bedrooms
The buttons can be locked
Filters are easy to purchase together
Modern and attractive design
True HEPA filtration
A “replace filter” light so you don’t have to guess when it’s time to replace
Price – much cheaper than other high-quality air purifiers (and bonus, you can get $300 off with this link!
I’m currently saving to buy one for the office and the school room. Here’s my cheat sheet to figure out which size is best for you:
AirDoctor 1000: good for bedrooms, offices, and smaller spaces
Air Doctor 3000: good for studios, offices, master bedrooms, kitchens, and living spaces
Air Doctor 5000: good for 1-bedroom apartments, larger living spaces, open concept areas, and garages
We leave all of our air purifiers on auto mode, which is what the manufacturer recommends. If you have the lights turned on you can easily see what your current air quality is. A red ring means poor, orange means moderate, and blue means good. The fan speed will automatically adjust according to the contaminants in the air.
When we are cooking indoors and the food releases VOCs, our AirDoctor 3000 gives me the “red eye” and quickly picks up speed. I love being able to glance across the room and see the colors change as our air quality improves.
I was shocked to see the air quality in our bedroom go to poor when I was blow drying my hair! And one day all of the air filters in the upstairs bedrooms kicked into high gear at the same time, leaving us mystified. Later I realized an upstairs window was open and a neighbor was spraying their lawn with chemicals! I never thought about how those chemicals would travel into our air space.
Having these air purifiers in our bedrooms while we sleep at night has given me so much peace of mind. Just last week my youngest boy had a cold and I was certain my oldest would catch it too since they share a bedroom. For the first time, no one else in our house caught the cold!
If you’re ready to invest in an air purifier (or four!) for your home, now is the best time to do it because AirDoctor is having a massive summer sale. Not only are the individual units on sale, but the bundles are deeply discounted. I was able to get you a discount link to save even more.
